Flamenco 2017-069.jpg

Flamallorca is delighted to invite you to their premier Zambomba Flamenca at the Teatro Sans for Christmas 2017: Two evening shows brimming with Christmas spirit, guest artists and surprises!

Our regular artists will of course be there: Miguel Cano “Miguelo” (vocals), Jorge de la Zagala (vocals),  Joaquinico el Seco y Jose Cortes on guitar, with dances from Juanqui Montero, Kiko Carmona and Aurora Recuero.

Joining them are several great artists, including the great Guillermo Sans and for the first time at Teatro Sans an exciting, young pianist.  The evening is all about family, a chorus of many voices, guitars, tambourines, jingle bells, bottles of anise, cajón, tinaja, zambomba - embodying the essence of the Flamenco Christmas party for generations, transcending beyond a show.

As our guests for this special evening, you will be encouraged to join in the singing, play the palms and even go on stage.

Zambomba Flamenca brings the spirit of flamenco Christmas to the stage, offering culture, excitement and fun all in the same show. It is an inclusive show for the whole family, flamenco connoisseurs as well as for first-timers. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment!

Prices €15 children, €25 general, €35 (Front rows with table) and includes a personal selection of warm and cold tapas with wines, water or juice.

THE VENUE

OUR ARTISTS

The Matinee Show

In a beautiful Gothic courtyard you will sample the finest local delicacies and wine.

You will get a taste for each part of Flamenco as we highlight our artist’s individual skills to you in small groups and take in some of the wonderful parts of this historic, gothic theater.

To end the show, the whole group joins the stage round a table playing Bulerías as “fin de fiesta” and showing a typical scene in a normal flamenco home when, after a good lunch or dinner, they start playing music…

Show duration 1 hour 30 minutes.

Theater Sans

A 14-15th Gothic palace built by a merchant who made his fortune trading olive oil.  His coat of Arms remains in the courtyard, above the door to the kitchen.  His neighbours were Knights of the Templar.   A Mallorquin family bought the Palace and it remained in their family for 300 years.  Then Franco confiscated it, branding them as Republicans. Post-Franco, the Palace was returned to the family.   35 years ago when Dominic (the current owner) was 18, his family knocked on the Palace door and enquired about the theater they heard was once there. The old family were so delighted anyone even knew this and more so when Dominic’s family said they wanted to manage it.   The Mallorquin family sold them the Palace at a reasonable price and it has been a theater ever since. The arched cellar room by the kitchen was used by the original merchant to ripen bananas from the Canary Isles and hang sobrasada. Oh and the Theater has a few fantasma's or ghosts (all friendly according to Dominic)
